Matvan is a small village located in Dapoli taluka of Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra (India) with total 123 families residing. Matvan has a population of 426 of which 195 are males while 231 are females as per Population Census 2011.

In Matvan, population of children with age 0-6 is 37 which makes up 8.69% of the total population of village. Average Sex Ratio of Matvan is 1,185 which is higher than the Maharashtra state average of 929. Of the 37 children, 20 are males and 17 are females. In Matvan, out of the total population, 178 were engaged in work activities (109 are males and 69 are females). 52.25% (93) of workers describe their work as Main Work (Employment or Earning more than 6 Months) while 47.75% (85) were involved in Marginal activity providing livelihood for less than 6 months. Of workers engaged in Main Work, 30 were cultivators (owners or co-owners) while 7 were Agricultural labourers. There are 248 Non Workers (include students, housewives and children above 6 years).
